The Cousin's Newsletter

All the Cousins in their Younger days
... The Reunion -1997
On Saturday, July 26, we held our First Annual Cousin's Reunion, at Obed River Park, in
Crossville Tennessee. Our best count of those attending was 55, including 12 of the 37
cousins, 1 Aunt and 1 Uncle and some guests. An address list will accompany this
newsletter with an indication of who attended. Nicholas Horsley (Great Grandson of Lloyd
Williams) was the youngest and Lloyd Williams was the oldest present. Linda Hames Cantrell
was the oldest cousin and Lisa Hatcher Conn was the youngest cousin present. People
started arriving on Friday and rallied at Lloyd's house. Everyone decided to meet at
Shoney's for dinner. There were about 18 of us there and we were pretty well stuffed by
the time we were through with the seafood buffet. Lunch, on Saturday, consisted mostly of
Chicken and Bar-B-Q with all the fixin's. There were plenty of cakes and pies to go
around. A good-natured horseshoe tournament was held between the North and the South. The
rumor is that the South won!! May Noles brought out her painting gear and , with the help
of Brittany and David Norman, painted a beautiful landscape. It was signed by all 3 and
was presented to Brittany and David as soon as it was dry. David attended one of May's
painting classes in August.

... After the Picnic
Everyone retired to Lloyd's house Saturday evening. There were more games of horseshoes
and visiting. Can you believe that after all the food we ate at the park, someone ordered
Pizza!?!? It must have been a good idea because it didn't last long. Randy Bowles brought
out a guitar and was accompanied by Lloyd, Wilma and several others in some singing.

... Next Year
Next Year's reunion will be held on July 11. The place has yet to be determined. Please
forward any suggestions to Bev or Larry.
...Thanks
To Linda Cantrell for keeping a list of attendees and for her notes without which I
would have forgotten a lot of the details.
To Lloyd and Mickey for their part in acquiring the park for our use and for allowing
us to use their home as a base.

... NEWS FROM THE NORTH:
By Bev
Greetings from the NORTH!! We were lucky enough to receive some guests from the SOUTH
recently, and I'm here to tell you about it!! On Friday, September 12th, Carol, Jimmy,
Marylou and Carey arrived in Ohio. They stayed until Monday the 15th at Violet's house.
Friday night Aunt Golden arrived for an overnight stay as well!! On Saturday the 13th all
of us "NORTHERNERS" pooled our cooking talents for a big carry-in dinner at
Violets. We had turkey and ham and several various side dishes, and more desserts than any
of us needed to put away!! We all visited for hours and just enjoyed the company. We were
paid quite a compliment when Carol was overheard saying "folks always brag on good
SOUTHERN cooking, but I think these NORTHERNERS do a pretty good job at it too!!" We
all had a great time, and ate way too much, and just wished that they could have brought
along all of the other SOUTHERN kinfolk to join the party!!
